Review of The Black Vera Wang
Written by Toniann
I need to watch that one again. For one thing, don't people know me well enough by now not to ring the phone at 9:02on a Wednesday? :)
Let me just say this: CJ looked fabulous in that Vera Wang dress. Which I now feel slightly icky about saying, considering her stalker feels the same way. Somehow or other, I didn't see that coming. I know many of you probably did, but I guess I was caught up in wondering why Donovan was spending so much time chatting with Hogan. You never see Ron Butterfield chatting up the president that way. You never see Ron chatting, period.
That Carol is insightful! I want her as my best friend. The whole "you didn't want to seem like a person old enough to have a niece going to the prom so you wanted to claim the extra year" riff? You called it, lady.
I'm with Ginger: I was pretty much hoping that tape was porn, too. Just kidding. Nice bit of continuity there, with Sam tossing in that thing about not meaning to give offense. Where's the temp when you need her?
Sam, Sam, Sam. And yet, he's the staff member most likely to be idealistic, isn't he? CJ would never, and Josh would sooner punch the guy's lights out than be that trusting. Leo's too smart, and Toby learned his lesson with Ann Stark. So they really picked their guy well, didn't they? What will this mean for Sam in the rest of the campaign? He told Kevin Kahn that they'd be seeing more incidents like the open mike one; does that mean Sam is going to lose that idealism with a vengeance?
Did you catch the thing where Bruno was talking about every campaign keeping an ad like that in a drawer, and CJ said, "We didn't", and everyone else chimed in, "Yes we did"? Huh. CJ, shut out again.
That was a tiny bit of banter with Donna and Josh there, the "my man" and missing him most during the nights? Don't get too excited, shippers, it was just normal banter, but we haven't seen much of that for awhile. I kind of missed it.
Speaking of, what's up with Bruno and the "Margaret" necklace thing? Stacy, indeed. That was sure sweet. I didn't know the guy had it in him. So was that a passing nice gesture moment, or love on the horizon for everyone's favorite West Wing wacky?
Okay, now I feel like I write for "Soap Opera Digest".
So let me get this straight: someone out there is performing all of Shakespeare's "Henry" plays, consecutively? Listen, I took three upper-level classes on Shakespeare in college, and worked on several productions of the same, and I consider myself a fan of the Bard of Avon and all, but some of those "Henrys" are just boring. Let's be frank about it. Three Henry VI's. It's a few too many. The guy was pretty loony.
Though you've got to love a president who ponders, "Which Plantagenet do I most remind you of?"
This Shareef thing, and the Golden Gate Bridge, and Fitz (yay!): okay, you've got me. I admit I used to say the Sit Room subplots didn't interest me as much, but this one's got me glued to the screen.
Listen, I gotta say, I don't blame Donna for not wanting the moose. Heck, Josh was the one who regifted in the first place by giving it to her. She probably should have been more suspicious when the intern said he wanted it. Sauna cured moose? Who in their right mind would want such a thing? If I were in Donna's shoes, I would have just told Josh to get his cute little butt back to Helsinki and bring me a real souvenir. Or a necklace.
"Don't eat the fruit."
